credit card in Vietnam

INTRODUCTION

1. Necessity of the study

Although the bankcard industry has just really evolved in the past 40 years,

bankcard is now a second method of payment (only after cash). Credit card is a

kind of bankcard. Using a piece of plastic, a cardholder can pay for goods and

services from over 25 million merchants around the world. The real appeal of the

credit card comes from its convenience and safety.  In the Asia Pacific region,

cash is still the king but the situation is changing. The region is expected to be the

second largest bankcard market by 2005.

With a view to preparing for the integration process into the world economy,

Viet Nam should consider card service as a key factor for the development of

payment. Using credit card in payment and other services is quite new in Viet

Nam but this will develop strongly in the coming years. Thanks to the

convenience offered by credit card, clients will avoid many risks. Moreover, Viet

Nam is potential market. With a population of 80 million people whose incomes

have been in the rise, the number of personal accounts will increase quickly.  In

addition, the system of domestic commercial banks has been growing and they

can offer modern service.

These are the reasons making us believe in the development of this service in

Viet Nam in the years to come.

7. Our contribution after studying

Viet Nam is considered a “cash” economy. While transaction by credit card has

been popular in many countries, it is quite strangle to most of Vietnamese. The

problem is the habit of Vietnamese enterprises. They like method of payment by

cash. But more important thing is that Vietnamese banks do not have a fully-

fledged non-cash transaction system. The development of such a system requires

the efforts of everyone, including the general public. So, we give some solutions

to improve card service of banking system in the future. We hope that the

expansion of credit card payment networks by banks would pave the way for more

non-cash transactions in Viet Nam.

8.Our swear in studying process

We swear to be truthful in studying. If we made any plagiarism, we will get zero

marks.
